Rachel’s Bio

On arrival in San Francisco in 1983, daily Tai Chi classes in North Beach were my first introduction to Asian culture and healing arts. This meditative practice had a wonderfully grounding effect, and soon proved to be an important first step in my life here.

When the opportunity came to study Asian bodywork. I fell in love with Shiatsu, Thai massage, and the profound simplicity of Asian philosophy through exposure to Traditional Chinese Medicine. These interests soon developed into a deeply satisfying career as a massage therapist. They also brought ease and comfort back to my body, which had become tense and tight from long hours of office work. My continuing studies included water therapies, prenatal and baby massage.

The study of Japanese flower arranging has drawn together my interests in art, nature, movement and spirituality, with the same principles of balance and energy learnt from the healing arts.

I have been teaching since 1993, and offer professional certification courses as well as community workshops. My intention is to help others grow and benefit from these arts as I have done. A calm, safe and respectful environment, allows people to access their healing capacities, develop skill,  and share well-being.
